You should try the food from Muar, Johor. We have the best Wantan Noddles, Otak-Otak and Fried Oyster. We have also very special Rojak (different from penang), Mee Rebus and Mee bandung, Satay……and many more

yeap, I went to muar few years back, and i always love the otak-otak there! it’s just superb, and muar otak is way better than penang one!

the same goes to muar fried oyster, just awesome. the best is all seems to be able to bought at 1 single street! :D

i also heard that the asam fish in muar is good stuff too……

    hi samlee,
i accidentally jump into your blog while searching for the best char koey teow in sg. petani. and i don’t even know there are different type of CKT i.e. chinese and malay version. i would like to recommend you to try one famous malay CKT at Sg. Dua. the one at seberang perai site. the name of that famous malay CKT is “Char Koey Teow Sg. Dua” with their catchy tagline “telur ayam dibasuh”…

    • samlee860407 said, on February 21, 2011 at 12:24 am

Thanks. Chinese CKT is usually non-halal though.

Yea.. I will go there as long as I can find more info about it, hehe. And I remember I saw “telur ayam dibasuh” tagline somewhere, not sure where is it though

    Hi Sam ..

My friends and I will be in Penang on Monday 18 July for a day only.
We would very much appreciate if you would be our guest for lunch on that day.
Transport is not a problem as we’ll hire a mini bus for the day.

Main reason is to get to know another foodie (yao kui) esp in Penang.
I’ll be most happy to show you around and makan with you in Singapore.

    Best Regards,
    Stephen

    Hi SAM,

    I’m from SP also,
    1. Taman Intan “Da You Bin” Dim Sum, can say the best in SP also.
    2. Also, at night old bus station, can get nasi lemak that sell less than a ringgit, also more than 300packs sold per night. Which only 3-4 family members sell it.
    3. “Steam Tua Pan” in sungai lalang restaurant.
    4. “二街” in afternoon, the chicken rice, sell more than 50 chickens in 3 hours.

    In Penang:
I would like to recommend JamesFoo restaurant in tanjung tokong,Penang. Coz, I would say the best western food in Penang. If you go there from 6-9PM, you need to queue to be seated.

I find that the belacan fried chicken at Pekan Lama, Sungai Petani is quite nice too (to my taste). May be you should give a try.

    Address:
    No. 41, Jalan SS21/60
    Damansara Utama 47400
    Petaling Jaya

    Contact:
    Tel: 03-7722 1742

The salad bar is the new cafe on the joint in Damansara Uptown. The salad bar is a new breed of restaurants promoting healthy eating. This restaurant was started by 3 partners who realised that the Malaysian diet consisted of too much meat , and wanted to have a healthier alternative available. Hence the birth of ‘The salad bar’. And don’t get it wrong, this is not a wholly 100% vegetarian place, but it promotes a balance way of eating with more emphasis of fresh greens.

If you have time please go and try!
