People are always talking how good the dim sum in Hong Kong, and how it will smoke’s those in Malaysia and such. However, I only remember how sucks the dim sum are when I follow a tour to Hong Kong at 2009.

Hence, this time, I make sure myself visit the single most popular and opted as the best Dim Sum in Hong Kong by many people, Tim Ho Wan Dim Sum, which is also a Michelin starred restaurant.

Oh, they are the cheapest Michelin starred restaurant too from what I search.

I also had read about the long queues to dine here. Luckily, you don’t need to be in Queue. Just go and grab a number, and come back at a later time.

Oh, a thing to note yes, nearby the shop, is a boy’s heaven. Boys? Well, it sold loads of toys that guys like, especially RC cars and guns. Yes, those air guns. Man, just look at those superbly crafted guns is an art. Ranging from pistols to snipers. Too bad, I can’t bring it back to Malaysia or else I will DEFINITELY get one!!!!

When I sign up for my Starwood Privilege card, I was told that the EEST Dim Sum Brunch is very very good. Hence, for my free dining for 2 voucher in Westin Kuala Lumpur, I decided to use it at EEST. EEST is initially a Halal Restaurant if not mistaken as I was told that they recently just change to a non-Halal restaurant.

Siang Hai Dim Sum @ Penang

Posted in Chinese, Cuisine, Dim Sum, Food and Drinks, George Town, Location, Penang, Restaurant (Cuisine) by samlee860407 on January 15, 2010

Stumble across this place 1 morning and decided to give it a try.  Although it’s English name is Siang Hai, but it was named as Shanghai Dim Sum in Chinese, and Shanghai is famed for it’s dim sum, especially the “xiao long bao”. However, I was largely disappointed.

Usually at most Dim Sum restaurant at Penang, it will be very crowded at around 9am to 10am, especially on weekends, however, surprisingly it’s not when we was there. It’s kinda good and bad for me, as I hate crowded place, but if a place got lesser customer, does it also means that the food is not good?

At Siang Hai Dim Sum, there ain’t any people pushing trolley with Dim Sum on it to your table for you to choose. You need to walk to the counter and choose yourself.
