<p>I ain&#8217;t cheat ya, the name of the restaurant is really Restaurant First Famous Federal, and located at Lorong Susu, what a good name for a road.</p>

<p>The tables inside the restaurant is a mix of those normal cheapo table you can find in almost any coffee shop, and those more expansive antique style type table. The same goes to the chair. However, please come earlier since the restaurant itself is quite small, and it do attract loads of people especially during peak hour at lunch time.</p>

<p>1 bowl of <em>chai boay</em> (preserved vegetables soup) will be given to every table, and it&#8217;s really a superb appetizer since the sourness of it will really open up your taste bud! The <em>chai boay</em> is full of flavor since it was cooked with all the unwanted bones from the roasted duck and chicken they sell. I do wish if its more spicy though. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>7.5/10</strong></span></p>

<p>Initially I thought the chili sauce will be nice, but well, just average like normal one lo.</p>

<p>The <em>roasted pork</em> here is good, with really crispy skin and nice proportion of fat and lean meat, yummmy!<span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong> 8.0/10</strong></span></p>

<p>The roasted duck here is  nice too, really crispy skin and tender meat. I do find that the duck given is a bit too little for me, well yea, I think the chef thought that we can&#8217;t finish it since we only had 2 person to finish such big plate of meat! <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>7.8/10</strong></span></p>

<p>The <em>steamed chicken</em> here is quite normal, although the skin is very smooth and the meat is very tender, but I ain&#8217;t a fan of reddish meat at all. However, the <em>lap cheong</em> (<em>chinese sausage</em>) here is just divine. I love this way more than the one from <a href="http://samlee86.com/2010/02/25/sky-hotel-char-siew-penang/">Sky Hotel</a>, just awesome. The meat is really juicy, the sweetness is just ngam ngam hou, oh mai&#8230;&#8230;slurp. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>9.0/10</strong></span></p>

<p>We didn&#8217;t have the chance to try their <em>char siew</em> though since it was not ready yet when we were there. Too bad for us.</p>

<p>First famous federal restaurant, located at Lorong Susu off Macalister Road is really a superb place to have lunch when you have all those meat meat meat cravings.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Bi Ah Dong? Mabrown? I always find that this restaurant name is very funny. In Chinese the restaurant was read as &#8220;We Ye Tong&#8221;, or &#8220;Bi Ah Dong&#8221; in Hokkien, but in English it was known as Mabrown, and which I always read as &#8220;Mabolo&#8221; when I was still small, err&#8230;.what? Well, in any case, this restaurant had started their business for a long time already, as long as <a href="http://samlee86.com/2010/01/29/restaurant-sai-gao-sungai-petani/">Restaurant Sai Gao</a>, and if not mistaken, they are 1 of the 1st restaurant in Sungai Petani that provide air-corn room for their customers.</p>
<p>However, in terms of customers, Sai Gao always had the upper hand. I had also notice most of the time Sai Gao is the first choice of most customers, and only if they can&#8217;t find a place there then they will only opt for Restaurant Bi Ah Dong. Besides, whenever Sai Gao is off, the business here will be tremendously good.</p>
<p>However, I still love both restaurant, and I find that both of them got their specialties that make me always come back to them.</p>
<p>They had a few ready cooked dishes, such as those you found in economy rice stall, and the beancurd below is 1 of them. Although it&#8217;s cold already (duh obviously) but it still taste nice. Even though the skin is not crispy, but the gravy is good. I take it as an appetizer before my meal. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>7.5/10</strong></span></p>

<p>The eggplant is another ready made dish. However, I find that it&#8217;s so-so only as it&#8217;s a bit tasteless. But still, ok la. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>6.2/10</strong></span></p>

<p><span id="more-1130"></span>Although <em>Char Siew</em> and <em>Roasted Pork</em> are their specialty, but it&#8217;s not good. Well, it&#8217;s not that bad, but when you claim it&#8217;s you specialty and always promote to your customer, your customer will except something really good, which is not the case here. The <em>roasted pork</em> is just plain normal, but the <em>Char Siew</em> is lacking of taste, not sweet enough. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>5.5/10</strong></span></p>

<p>Ahh, my favorite dish, also 1 of their specialty, <em>steamed fish with dao cheong</em>. It&#8217;s a lovely dish, and the gravy goes really well with rice. The fish is fresh too, besides, you can also opt for extra beancurd on it. If you are a spicy food lover, you can ask them to put extra chili to make it even more appetizing! <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>8.4/10</strong></span></p>

<p>The interior of here is definitely better than Sai Gao, with same great food (well, to be honest, Sai Gao better la) and a cheaper price. Besides, they do have a room with air-corn, and although its a small room which can only accommodate 5 tables or so, but most people tend to sit outside so finding a place inside ain&#8217;t really that hard.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>During the 5th day of Chinese New Year, I went down to Ipoh, and I never expect such many people are there! I reach Ipoh at around 10.30am, and decided to have my breakfast, only to found out that 3 of the usual place I had my breakfast in Ipoh &#8211; Yee Fat, Lou Wong/Ong Kee and another coffee shop near UOB bank there is full with loads of people are standing waiting for empty table!</p>
<p>This is madness! At 10.30am, most people usually already finish their breakfast, and still too early for lunch, but why is this happening!</p>
<p>Finally, I decided to try to the Pig’s Offals Porridge that <a href="http://www.j2kfm.com/wong-fee-kee-roast-pork-bercham-ipoh/">Motormouth </a>recommend, only to find out they haven&#8217;t start business yet!! End up I had to patron <a href="http://samlee86.com/2010/01/22/steamed-fish-and-sar-kot-ngan-woh-ipoh/">Ngan Woh</a> again. Sigh, it&#8217;s really a bad day for me as before this, I already made a huge detour. I actually wanted to go to Jalan Lapangan Terbang, so I use the Pantai Hospital exit. In the end, as I made the wrong turn, I end up in Tanjung Rambutan and Bercham&#8230;&#8230;&#8230; sigh oh sigh&#8230;..</p>
<p>Anyway, after steamed fish&#8230;&#8230;.</p>

<p><span id="more-961"></span>When I was there, I had to queue up to buy as they are few people in front of me already, and the lady just open the stalled not too long ago!</p>

<p>The roasted pork here is really good stuff. Although I had it after 3 hours I buy it, and it was placed under air-conditioned room, it still taste good although it was cold already. It however do taste a bit salty, but OK for me. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>8.2/10</strong></span></p>

<p>The char siew here taste nice too, and although it&#8217;s very red, which means that most likely huge amount of dye was used, but well, worry that later! <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>7.8/10</strong></span></p>

<p>Roasted pork and char siew here is really awesome stuff, pity I don&#8217;t have the chance to try the Pig’s Offals Porridge which was also sold in the same coffee shop.</p>

However, I decided to trust <a href="http://www.penangtuapui.com/2009/11/carnarvon-street-lor-mee-hwa-nam-kafe-hawker-food/">Penangtuapui</a> when saw their post about this <em>Lor mee</em>, which turn out to be awesome!</p>

<p><span id="more-932"></span>The <em>Lor mee</em> here is way different from others as they stir fried it, yes, just like how they stir fried <em>Wa Dan Hor</em>. I really love the thick gravy here. They did cooked it with wine and vinegar, which enhance the taste to awesomeness. For the first time in my life, I basically drank finish the whole bowl of soup! Besides, the soup of the <em>Lor mee</em> here is not as starchy as you found in other place. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>8.7/10</strong></span></p>

<p>We did order some roasted duck and roasted pork to go with our noodle. Turn out both of them is good, just that it&#8217;s a bit too salty. The roasted pork lack of the crispy skin, but the meat is tender and taste nice. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>7.4/10</strong></span></p>

<p>Hwa Nam Kafe is located just at the entrance of Carnarvon Street on your left if you are coming from Jalan Dr. Lim Chwee Leong (Praigin Mall). It&#8217;s a small coffee shop beside Kafe Foutain which had a huge signboard and you can&#8217;t miss it.</p>

<p>However, I am still here at Sky hotel located at Chulia street, just because of the famous <em>Char Siew rice</em> here.</p>

<p>When I ordered the <em>Char Siew</em>, I was asked, fat or lean, and I regretted very much by ordering the lean version. The <em>Char Siew</em> is good, but it&#8217;s too lean leading to not juicy enough. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>7.0/10</strong></span></p>

<p><span id="more-812"></span>The <em>Siu Yok</em> aka roasted pork here is goodie stuff. The skin is crispy and taste nice. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>8.0/10</strong></span></p>

<p>The <em>lap cheong</em> here is really awesome stuff. The inner part of the meat is very juicy and tender, which is different from others where it&#8217;s usually hard. Although many people had said the <em>char siew</em> and <em>siu yok</em> here is nice, but I personally find that the <em>lap cheong</em> is the Must Order stuff here. <strong><span style="color:#0000ff;">8.5/10</span></strong></p>

<p>The &#8220;yao choy sam&#8221; here is something worth to mentioned too. It was steamed nicely, and definitely something need to order to cope with all the fat meaty stuff up there. <strong><span style="color:#0000ff;">8.0/10</span></strong></p>

<p>Sky hotel Wai Kee serve really nice<em> Char Siew</em> and <em>Siu Yok</em> here in Penang. Besides, it&#8217;s also known to many Penangties that the best <em>Char Siew</em> and <em>Siu Yok </em>is here, so do come earlier before 12pm to avoid the huge crowd here especially after 12pm.</p>
<p>Time for some grandma stories of mine when I ate there. we actually forget to pay and left the restaurant after finish eating. We was not stopped by the worker there as seems they didn&#8217;t notice someone trying to eat for free there. It was until after we left and on the way going home, I asked my mum, how much total now ar? She stunned for a second and say, eh&#8230;&#8230;We didn&#8217;t pay! We then U-turn backed and pay, but the funny thing is it seems they also forget what we ordered and we did not pay. The worker keep on saying thank you to us for coming back and pay. :p</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Restaurant Sai Gao had been doing business in Sungai Petani for years, at least more than 2 decade. In the past, when Sungai Petani is still a small town, and still don&#8217;t have shopping mall or air condition restaurant, this is the single most famous restaurant here. Almost all of the business man in Sungai Petani will bring their customer or supplier to have lunch here, mainly because the food here is GOOD, and is also one of the few places that serve &#8220;dai chao&#8221; during lunch.</p>
<p>Besides, although you can see many empty table, it&#8217;s because I reach there early. If you reach around 12pm or later, it will always be full house.</p>

<p>Although the inside is quite old, but they do re-paint it from time to time, to make it looks newer. I had been patronizing this place ever since I was very small,  around the age of 3 to 4, and their interior never change besides the paint, same goes to their dish, still as good as the past.</p>

<p><span id="more-535"></span>The <em>Char Siew</em> and <em>Xio Bak</em> here is very famous, especially the <em>Char Siew.</em> I always love their <em>Char Siew </em>here,its good and the fat proportion is always great. The <em>Xio Bak</em> is quite ok too. <strong><span style="color:#0000ff;">7.6/10</span></strong></p>

<p><em>Steamed fish Teowchew style</em>. Ahh, awesome stuff. I really love the way they cook it, and although they only use fish meat, but the fish is usually fresh. <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>8.5/10</strong></span></p>

<p>And this, the superb<em> Sambal prawn and squid</em>, my all time favorite dish. Every single time I came here, surely I will order this. This is just super stuff, awesomeneesss to the max. It&#8217;s not really spicy, and actually taste a bit sweet, but it&#8217;s just greatttoo!! <span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>9.0/10</strong></span></p>

<p>The way they cook the rice is special too. They did not cook 1 whole pot all together, but instead they separate it and cook 1 by 1. However, I see nothing special on this, the rice they cook sometime is still too sticky or too dry.</p>

<p>Besides all those I order, some of their other nice dish are <em>Curry Stingray, Kau Yok, Chili Prawn and Squid</em> is nice too. Really you guys should give it a try when at Sungai Petani. However, they only serve lunch, which for lunch most of the time I prefer eat something more simple.</p>
