Yes, Klang always pop up when someone mentioned Bah Kut Teh, but Yap Chuan in Puchong is definitely one of the top Bah Kut Teh in my list.

And yes, this is where the famous 14 year old kid who earned the Bah Kut Teh King award years back. You can read many news regarding this story in the restaurant hanging on the wall while waiting for your Bah Kut Teh being served.

And of course, Chinese tea is a Must!

Rice and You Char Kway, normal nia.

And then, taa daaaaa, the – Bah Kut Teh Soup Version. The soup is thick and tasty, the meat is super soft and tender, which is just yummylicious! Notice most of the meat in the pictures are fatty one? HAHA!

I absolutely love the Bah Kut Teh here and no, at here, you can ask for extra soup without getting scold. Oh yea, the Bah Kut Teh here is also served in 1 whole claypot instead of multiple small bowl. 8.8/10

And finally, the Dry Bah Kut Teh which invented by the kid and earn the Bah Kut Teh king status. IMHO, it doesn’t taste anything like the soup version, but it’s just delicious!!!

It’s cooked with dried chillis, cuttlefish, ladies finger, oyster sauce, dark soya sauce and maybe some secret ingredients. Oushuuummm!!! 9.4/10

As an otak-otak lover, I will order it if it’s on the menu. Although it says that the otak-otak served is from Muar, but sorry la, the difference is too big. I won’t say it’s bad, but well, it’s something that you can skip. 6.4/10

Yap Chuan, always my choice of Bah Kut Teh whenever I am in Kuala Lumpur, especially when I don’t need to drive all the way down to Klang.

Total Damage: RM43 for 2 person

Operating Hours: 9.30AM till 9.30PM daily

Location: Jalan Polis, Pandamaran, Klang (if you got a GPS, just search for the Police station of Pandamaran). The stall is located at a long stretch of hawker food along the road, nearby to Public Bank and Toto.

When I am hunting for Ah Her Bah Kut Teh at pandamaran, Klang, I saw Mo Sang Kor Bah Kut Teh on the way. Well, now I now, what I gonna eat for my breakfast in few days time. However, this early morning Bah Kut Teh at the morning of Christmas is the single most expansive Bah Kut Teh I ever had, which cost me almost RM1000 on it.

As always, the feast, early in the morning. I actually leave my hotel in Kuala Lumpur at around 6.15AM, again, just to avoid the crowd.

One of the major difference between Ah Her and here is the taste of Chinese medicine. At Ah Her, the soup itself is like full with pork taste only, while the soup here at Mo Sang Kor got a slight hint of Chinese medicine taste, so it’s usually up to which version you like. Both of them, the soup are equally thick and super flavourful.

The ‘sai kuat’ (small bone) is awesome too with the thick skin and fat and tenderrrrs meat!

The ‘pai kuat’ (pork ribs) here is a tad better than Ah Her though, as the meat is more tasty.

The ‘dai kuat’ (big bone) however, is too fat even to my liking. Look at the fat on it! Its crazy, but nevertheless I still love it although I sorta give the fat a go.

We also opt for some pork intestines this time instead of pure chicken feet only, which are both awesome!

The same thing that’s gonna happens here from what I heard is – ask for extra soup, you are gonna get scold if you are unlucky. Same trick, order for more rice, or order another bowl of meat. For me, I will always prefer super flavourful soup with limited amount over super watery soup but you can add as many as you want.

So some might ask, which do I prefer? I personally prefer Ah Her over Mo Sang Kor, but LY prefer the other way round as she liked the Chinese medicine taste on the soup here. So again, I guess it’s up to what you like. 9.0/10

And don’t let the picture fool you, it was still early at around 7AM, so the crowd is still not there yet.

So what’s up with the most expansive Bah Kut Teh which cost me almost RM1000 while we only pay RM35 to the shop?

Yea, besides famous for it’s Bah Kut Teh, Klang is also famous for it’s potholes! GOSH! A big pothole in the middle of the road which one is supposed to cruise on it at around 70km/h?

It cost 2 of my tyre to burst off and there goes my Christmas morning. I had to wait by the road side until the tow truck come, pull it to the shop, wait for them to fix and pay RM960 for 2 piece of tyre to them.

RM960 + RM35 = RM995, haven’t break the 4 digit yet, but well….I guess I just gotta say I am lucky as the pothole doesn’t cause my car to spin, and there are so many workshop open in the morning of Christmas day right?

Total Damage: RM35 for 2 person (Haven’t include the cost of 2 tyres)

Operating Hours: 6.00am – 12.00pm

Location: 145, Jalan Chan Ah Choo, Pandamaran

Klang…the holy place for Bah Kut Teh, the place where Bah Kut Teh was founded, the place which has worst road condition (you will know why soon), the place that I loved and hoped to live just because of it’s Bah Kut Teh.

In my last trip down to Kuala Lumpur for Christmas holidays, I decided to visit Pandamaran, a small town in Klang which boast 2 great Bah Kut Teh stalls, which 1 of them is Ah Her Bah Kut Teh. Since I am traveling from Sungai Petani, I timed myself well. I MUST reach Pandamaran by 5PM, or hell will break through.

Reasons? I had heard too many stories saying that Ah Her will be super crowded if you arrive anytime after 5.30PM, and I myself know well that if I were want to enter Klang after working hours, I might be stuck in jam for hours! Besides, since I had totally no idea where is Pandamaran, or how to go there, and I am only armed with my iPhone with PapagoM6 installed in it, it might take me sometime to actually find the place.

Hence, I started my journey at 12PM from Sungai Petani, all the way down…..to my holy place – Klang.

Stopping only once for pee and a light lunch, and with little cars on the road, great GPS, I reach in front of Ah Her Bah Kut Teh at around 4.30PM.

Since they only start business at 5.00PM, we waited in the car until 4.45PM. At this time, the stall is still…..very empty.

While waiting, we had some tea. Tea is essential while having Bah Kut Teh man, as it is believed being able to dilutes or dissolves the copious amount of fat consumed in it.

At around 4.55PM, we order our portion, and it arrive in just a while, all thanks to there ain’t much customer….yet!

The rice served is oily rice, which is very fragrant and flavorful even if u just eat it by itself.

Unlike many other place, the Bah Kut Teh here does not come with 1 big claypot. Instead, it come with small bowls with the cuts you order. From what I read, it seems this is how the original Bah Kut Teh looks like.

And well, since we are having Bah Kut Teh, which means pork ribs tea, of course I must order pork ribs! However, it’s a total let down, and I still hold on my stand that I hate pork ribs in Bah Kut Teh. Reason is the meat ain’t that tender and it’s a bit tasteless to me.

However, no the hell way I am saying Ah Her Bah Kut Teh is bad, no way! It’s now top in my list of the best soup Bah Kut Teh I had ever tried. Only the ribs were a let down, but the ‘dai kuat’ (big bone) taste awesome! The meat is super tender and soft, and taste much much better, more flavorful and more porkish (is that a a word? seems not lol).

The same goes to ‘sai kuat’ (small bone), which is just as wonderful. Although these two big and small bones come with the more fatty pork skin, but well, this is how one should eat pork. The skin and fat certainly makes the meat taste so so much better. Lean meat is for pussies! Fark the fat, fark the calorie, I can workout later…..yes….I will….well, yea, I think I wil…..

3 serving is just not enough for me and LY, I just couldn’t have enough of it. Bar with me, ALL Bah Kut Teh in Sungai Petani SUCKS! Yes, they all sucks! No matter how deep my craving for Bah Kut Teh is, I still won’t find those that sold at my hometown nice. Every single time I went for those Bah Kut Teh in Sungai Petani, it just lead me to hate it more.

Hence, we order another serving, but this time it’s ain’t pork, but chicken feet. It taste awesome too as the chicken feet is cooked to really really tender and taste super nice!

Oh, and you might notice too, man the soup is so little?! How can you call that Bah Kut Teh?

Or you might had heard wonderful stories that if you ever asked for extra soup in most of Bah Kut Teh shops in Klang, you will get scolded.

But before you try to get annoyed, or scold them being arrogant or whatever, let me tell you something.

It’s not because they are proud, or stingy (since it’s only water), it’s because they care about the quality of their soup. Why do I say so?

See the pot over there? No, the pot behind the kettle. Did you see that it’s fully stuff with meat in it? Yes, that’s it. They did not cook extra soup, add extra water so that they have more soup.

The soup in the pot is all they have. The water added is only enough to cover the meat when it was cooked. So how do you expect them to give you extra soup? If they were to give, by the time the soup is dried up, they will still have 3/4 pot of meat unable to sell!

It’s all about quality and not quantity, and hence the soup here is super tasty and it’s very condensed, come with great aroma and flavor. Unlike most other Bah Kut Teh, where the soup is so damned watery!

So before you curse them to the mad because you get scolded for asking extra soup, or complaining that the soup is so little, think of how the dish is cooked first. How can you expect your condensed milk taste the same if you add loads of water to it?

However, there’s a way for asking for extra soup without being scolded or ignored. Order an extra serving of rice, and they will give you extra soup, still spoonful worth of soup though.

The crowd started to grow while we having our meal, and this is the crow at 5.30PM. So expect to stand and wait for a seat if you come late, or worse, was told that the Bah Kut Teh are sold off!

It’s still simply the best soup version of Bah Kut Teh that I had tried, but I do think that, there might be some room of improvement to make the meat even more tasty….am I being ridiculous? 9.2/10

Total Damage: RM38 for 2 person

Operating Hours: 5.00PM till sold out (around 7PM maybe)

Location: Jalan Polis, Pandamaran, Klang (if you got a GPS, just search for the Police station of Pandamaran). The stall is located at a long stretch of hawker food along the road, nearby to Public Bank and Toto.

Bah Kut Teh….ahh….how I miss those days when I am staying in Petaling Jaya, where Puchong and Klang is so near to me, where above average Bah Kut Teh is easily to be found…ahhhh I really miss those days, as I am a huge Bah Kut Teh lover! But, once I am back in my hometown, gosh, everything change! Bah Kut Teh here is so sucks, and even the best one is just like drain water if compare to better ones in Central Region! I had rant before in my personal blog at Samlee860407.com before about how I hate them. GRrrrrrr!!!!!

I had not eaten Bah Kut Teh at all ever since my last rant (dated 8th March 2009) in Sungai Petani. Reason is I am worry about the more I had Bah Kut Teh here, I will one day become a Bah Kut Teh hater. Until recently, I had heard that there is this new restaurant serve not bad Bah Kut Teh, and they even had the dried version! Well, ok, since it’s been so long, I decided to give them another try.

Luckily, it was OK. NO, my OK is not OK for the standard of Central Region, but for the standard of my hometown. The soup is quite OK, meat is quite OK, taste OK, just everything is OK. Nothing spectacular. 4.5/10

Here comes the dry version. Well, it is the first dried Bah Kut Teh in Sungai Petani, and luckily, it was quite OK. The meat is quite tender, not too dried, but just not enough spicy. Still OK la if I don’t want to hiam too much. 5.5/10

Lao Di Fang, who self proclaimed that their Bah Kut Teh is the Klang version, but too bad, the quality is not there. They even had a huge poster inside the restaurant telling the story of how Bah Kut Teh was invented and such, but for me, I think I will have to forget about Bah Kut Teh as long as I am in my hometown, and now I just have to pray that those highly recommend in Penang will be as good as those in Klang (well, maybe no need as good la, lose a bit also never-mind la).

My dear readers, please….please recommend me a place at Northern region that serves really good Bah Kut Teh! Pleaseeeeee……….

Lot 10 Hutong, definitely 1 of the hype for food lovers these days at Bukit Bintang area. It’s a food court that features 25 street food stalls that are selling famous local Chinese cuisine which have survived for at least 50 years, all hand-picked by Tan Sri Francis Yeoh, the managing director of YTL Corp Bhd group.

This is really a great idea, as one will not need to travel all around Kuala Lumpur to taste those nice food, as they only need to head to Lot 10 and they will be spoil with the choice of great food available. However I am actually quite skeptical of the quality of the food before I visit. However, after reading much review, it seems that the food serve there is quite good, so here am I.

The first thing that caught my eyes is “Mo Sang Kor Bah Kut Teh” as I wonder around.

It’s originally at Pandamaran, Klang, and I had also heard that this is the famous Bah Kut Teh that the lady boss will scold the customer who ask for extra soup. I am not sure how true it is, but I really wanted to try them due to it popularity.

The first thing I say is WHAO when I saw it. Man, the bowl is so damed small, and it’s already 90% full with the meat in it, which means only 10% are left for the soup! Bah Kut Teh is all about drinking the soup, but….but…….this is………..

And these doesn’t came cheap, it cost around RM30, but for food court price, ok la.

The first thing that LY and my mum say when they eat is, whao the rice is good! And yes, the rice is really very fragrant. Awesome!

This is the Small Lion Ribs, and the meat is really really tender. Even for someone like me that prefer fatty meat over lean meat, still find that it’s nice.

The bone/gristle. And again Oh mai, its great tasting. The fat meat is awessssommee……really love it very much, and make me totally forget about health conscious and body fat level. Besides, the soup is really great tasting too. I really love to have way way way more soup as those 2 small bowl is way too little for me.

This is the only stall that have long queue when I was there. It must be good that make so many queue for it even though there are so many other choice there right?

Oh, it’s the famous Kim Lian Kee Hokkien Mee (or Hokkien Char for Penangties), originally at Petaling Street.

However, it was bad. Yes, they did use charcoal to cook it, but so what? It’s too salty, and just doesn’t taste nice at all. Some had said if the person who cook was the boss son, it will taste great, but if its their worker who cook it, then it’s bad. Guess I am out of luck as I don’t know who is the boss son too.

This Hokkien Mee come at RM8.90, but its a huge failure.

My next order is the originally at Petaling Street Hon Kee Porridge.

The porridge is smooth, I usually hate porridge, but this one, I kinda find it not bad.

I opt for the raw fish one. The fish is slice thinly, and eat it with the porridge, it’s good!

The raw fish and porridge combo came at the price of RM6.80.

The “Yao Char Kuih” @ RM1.40. Oh this is good! It’s so crunchy, and you won’t find that it give you a taste of too oily. Great!

Although there’s only 3 of us, we find that the food we order can’t satisfy us yet. So I go on and order something else. Ho Weng Kee, originally at SS2.

Although Ho Weng Kee is famous for their wantan noodle, but I didn’t order the noodle since we are quite full, but just want to try something more.We opt for their side dish instead.

The chicken drumstick is very nice, tender meat, great tasting skin. It’s slightly coated with honey, nice!

The char siew is nice too. The fat and lean meat proportion is consider good.

We get our desert from here.

Barley beancurd with ginko nut @ RM3.90. Quite ok la.

Ais Kacang @ RM4.50. Not bad too.

Glass Jelly with sea coconut @ RM3.90. My order and I kinda like it.

Overall, 3 of us spent almost RM100 here, certainly not cheap at all, however we are satisfied with the food except the Hokkien Mee. Since I never try at their original place before, I don’t know how big the difference is in terms of food quality, but I know for price wise, at Lot 10 Hutong it’s definitely more expansive. However, I find that this is a great place for those who did not stay at Kuala Lumpur and wanted to try some of the most famous food here.

One must also be ready for long queues when ordering their food if you came at the wrong time, or heck stand and wait for a place to seat. The design of the food court area is utterly rubbish leading to seating space is limited, and making order is difficult. However, it’s still a Must Try! place to dine in for all those that did not stay in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor.

Total Damage: Rm100 for 3 person

Location: Basement of Lot10 Shopping Complex
