Yes, you heard it right, it’s mangosteen. Being a great mangosteen lover, I always wanted to try it again, but always failed to find back the shop, until recently, at Tengkat Tong Shin….

The mangosteen salad @ RM32. Man this is really nice. The mangosteen itself is fresh and sweet, eat it with the prawns and it’s whao!! Really great stuff to open your appetite! 9/10

The starter for 3 @ RM49.50. This is actually customized for us as usually the starter is for 2 person only, where each type of starter only contains 2 piece. But since we have 3 person, the waiter told us that they can do this, which I think is really great service for able to do so.

However, all 4 of them disappoints me. Taste just normal like any other Vietnamese cuisine outside there. Really not worth the price at all. 5.5/10

Sao nam is actually finalist in the Time Out KL Food Awards 2009 Best Thai/Indochinese Restaurant category, where only the best out of the best establishment will made to the list, what say the finalist! Based on my past experience on this, yes their food is really good! However, since we already had our dinner before we are here, the above 2 dish is the only thing we order that night.

Another thing is, the environment at Sao Nam is very cozy too, and although when we were there, it’s almost full house but everyone seems in a very relax mode. This will lead you to join them and won’t feel pack because the restaurant is crowded.

I will be back here soon if I got the chance to try our more dish from Sao Nam, and before that, it still a Must Try! place if you wish to have some really nice Vietnamese food with a deep pocket.

Total Damage: RM 108.70 for 3 person

Location: Tengkat Tong Shin, Kuala Lumpur

Google Map:
