These years, there is however something very hot in Malaysia, which is durian buffet. Just pay a small amount of money, and you get to eat all you can. From D24, red prawn, hor lor and many many more.

Durians, Durians, Durians……!!!

You can choose, either go for the eat all you can, or pay for 1 and eat it there. For the buffet, you got 3 choices, RM25, RM35 and RM45. For RM25, you can only choose Durians from the 1st row, for RM35, 1st and 2nd row can be choose, and for RM45, you can choose all the Durians available, which include little red and red prawn (ang heh). We opt for the RM45, wishing to try it all!

The owner is a friendly guy. Although he is very busy with so many customers around, yet he is able to explain to us each type of Durian, the name of it, and how it should taste like. Besides, since there’s only 2 of us, thumb up to him that all the Durian he choose for us are small one, so that we are able to taste different type of Durian, good job!

And the famous red prawn, or better known as ang heh, which taste bitter sweet and is among 1 of the most loved version of Durian lovers. 1 of my favorite too.

Hor Lor, which if translate directly to english is water gourd. The shape of the Durian itself looks like a water gourd, so goes to the flesh inside, and hence the name of it. However, the one we got is way way too dry for my liking.

Pek Bak You (White Pork Lard) is our final Durian, and it’s also 1 of my favorite. Although the meat is white, but it’s taste very very nice.

After so much of heaty Durian, we definitely need to drink some tea. Tea and water are all FOC here.

Hm….what are these? High class resort with personal pool? Massage room? I am unsure eh.

However, this is quite a famous place and it attracts many visitors. We couldn’t even get a table for ourself and we had to eat by the place where they put their Durian.

Overall, it’s a great experience. However, it’s best come with a bunch of your Durian lover friend so that you can share a whole Durian among yourselves, chit chating while slowly enjoy high quality Durian for the day.

Nope, not the controversy song that lead to some Indonesians people whom threatened to go to war with Malaysia if Malaysia did not drop their claim on the origins of the song la. The Rasa Sayang here is a hotel in Batu Ferringhi, Penang. I had heard that the buffet dinner here is quite awesome, as good as the one in Sarkies corner, and hence, here I am!

When I saw the mountain high fruits, the first thing that strike my mind is “Yay! Free flow fresh fruit juice is back!” Unfortunately it’s not, you have to pay for it.

Although the salad corner do offer more choices than others, but Sarkies Corner offer double of what was offer here.

The appetizer corner is not bad though.

Indian corner in buffet are rare, and the Tandori Chicken here certainly looks delicious. Too bad it taste sucks. The chicken is to salty, and the fish is tasteless. Yucks….PHAILED!

The prawns here are a bit overcooked, but taste ok la.

Fruits and desert corner. Notice the chocolate fondue? The white one? Yea, they do have white chocolate fondue, which is quite rare here. However, the choices to go with the fondue is really limited. And where are my strawberries????!!

The ais kacang corner is are full with choices though, with many types of ingredients you can mix yourself. There are 6 types of syrup for you to choose to sweetened your ais kacang, which include sarsi syrup!

Oh, forget to mentioned, their Sashimi is good! They are very fresh and are slice thick enough for you to fully taste it! Awesome!

Although some of the dishes here at Spice Market Cafe are good, most of them are just sub-par. It’s not like you are bombarded with variety (such as Jogoya) where one can think, yea, I sacrifice quality for quantity. However, at here, both quality and quantity is just….below average, especially after you consider the price you pay for it.

Besides, when we are here, the air conditional are spoil! All of us are so freaking hot and we were told that they are still fixing it after few complaints. It was only until we wanted to left and only the air conditional is back in working, and hence, my dining experience in Spice Market Cafe is a HUGE disappointment.

We were greeted by loads of seafood just at the entrance of Sarkies Corner.

I really like the way they arrange the food, it just make the food looks even more appealing!

Tuna, prawns and salmon sashimi! I however did not eat these much since there are way too many other food for me to consume.

A few type of good looking sushi. However, I did not try these as the rice will just take up too much of my stomach space.

Woohoo, really nice cheese spread. So many type of cheese to choose from!

The choice of appetizer available is just amazing. Most of them taste good. I especially love the one 3rd from left at the bottom.

Salads choice is great too.

After finish eating the salads, I notice some people are taking oyster! How can I miss it. It’s actually at the main entrance, along where the sashimi are located at. However, when I am taking pictures, they are not there yet as the waiter just put it up.

The oyster size is big if compare to other buffet.

The choice of main dish is a bit limited though if you exclude the roasted and teppanyaki area. Below is some of what they offer. It’s also the first time I saw Nasi Kunyit is offer at buffet, and the lamb curry is good too.

The choice of desert available here is really a lot. Just by finishing each type of desert will make one full already. Besides, although the quantity a lot, the quality of the desert is there too.

The fruits are cut and placed nicely. Choices are more too if compare to others. However, I just take the strawberries as I am a HUGE fan of it. The strawberries here are quite big, and not as sour as those you buy at Tesco.

Chocolate fondue. However, nothing much that I can go with it, so I use it for my strawberries.

See the ice cream refrigerator on the right side of the picture above? It’s actually had Baskin-Robbins in it. However, it FAIL BIG TIME! The refrigerator cover is spoil and cannot be closed properly, leading to all the ice-cream in it is half melted all the time! I did complaint to their staff, but no action is taken AT ALL.

I personally find that they are a bit over staff as if you look at the picture closely, you will see loads of chefs and waiter standing around. This is good as my plates are clear once I stand up and go for next round. However, sometimes when walking around, seems that the staff are blocking the way as they are standing everywhere.

I am sorry that I forgot to take pictures of the bar and the BBQ area. I though I did, but end up I did not. Anyway, the wine bar offer free flow of both red and white wine, and beer. The wine actually taste good, especially the white wine.

The teppanyaki area do offer lamb, crab, prawns, cheese baked oyster and squids. Not bad too.

Sarkies corner Wine & Dine really offer good buffet. Do try it out if you want some better buffet at Penang.
