Just another Malaysia food blog

About me

Hei guys, I am Sam, currently located at a small and boring town – Sungai Petani, Kedah. After studying and working at Selangor for 5 years, I find that it’s quite hard for me to adapt back the slow moving lifestyle here. Besides, it’s also a sad thing to say that for the first few years I stayed in PJ, I don’t know much good food in KL and Selangor. Only when the last year there, I started to find out many nice food, but too bad, time is limited, and there is just way way too much nice food that yet to be eaten.

I usually focus more towards food in Penang, although occasionally I will blog something about Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur whenever I had the chance. Good food in my hometown – Sungai Petani is limited, but it might be due to I am too used to it until it become nothing special. However, I will still blog about them once in a while. I also normally won’t blog about something that it’s bad, since I see no point on doing so. I will only blog a restaurant that is bad if I had very bad experience there, or the restaurant is very famous, and I find it way overrated, then I will have my say on it.

Almost all of my shots before February 2010 is taken using my humble Fujifilm Finepix F200 EXR. Although initially I am not a fan of DSLR at all, I decided to get myself 1 due to the limitation I found when using a PNS. My current gear of photography is the Canon EOS 500D with Canon 50mm f1.8 II lens and Canon 17-40mm f4/L USM lens. I bought it few days before Chinese New Year of 2010. I am still new with it, and still in the process of learning. Hopefully I am able to take more mouth-watering shots in the near future.

A bit of disclaimer, all my reviews is honest and based on my personal view, and personal experience. Any words or phrases that use to describe the foods do not intend to joepardise the image, brand or quality for the restaurant that being reviewed. I will also not help to promote someone by simply saying their food is great even if it’s not just because they pay me, or the restaurant owner is my friend/relative.

Besides, I do know that the quality of food might deteriorate from time to time, and different person had different taste, so please don’t shoot me ya if you find it bad when you went to the place I recommend. However, a comment saying that the food is bad when you go is more than welcome, so that others (including me) know that their quality might had dropped, or they have a problem of inconsistency.

Hi there, I’d like to see more food reviews from Sungai Petani instead. Or in and around Kedah.
Those hidden gems not commercialized, for instance.

    Keep it up.

Hey, I’m also from Sungai Petani, currently working in Ipoh. I’ll usually travel back to SP to visit my mum & sisters. I’d tracked your site down because I’ll be back to SP during CNY & needed new places eat & dine.

While I was working sales for the Northern Regions, I used to travel quite often to SP, Kulim and sometimes Changlung. And it brings about opportunity to try the non-commercialized F&B businesses, but I have met a kaki that can bring me around and introduce the unsung heroes of the Kedah food scene. Write more of your hometown!

    Hello Sam,
The photos of the food looks good although some may not taste as good. I was wondering if I can get your permission to use some photos for a food trail poster. It’s for charity purposes. I can always keep your blog address as the reference.
