Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant is 1 of my favorite restaurant to go whenever I had the cravings for Korean food (and also BBQ stuff), simply because the quality of food here is usually higher than those normal Korean restaurant.
In Daorae, besides those normal sitting area, they usually have a dining area with tatami style, and obviously you will need to take off your shoe before entering the area. Notice the white long exhaust chute on top of each table? It can be pull down to be as close as possible to the BBQ area to suck out all the smoke from it.
Like most authentic Korean restaurant, our table is invariably laid with a sumptuous array of panchan. They are given complimentary for every table if you order their BBQ dishes. Most of them taste nice, and you can always ask for free refilling. I especially love their salad.
Salad? Or not?
Yum yum….
Lettuce are given for you to wrap the BBQ stuff you order, and by dipping the meat into the sesame oil and chili paste, it’s greatto!
Daeji Gal Bi @ RM27 – pork slice marinated with their special sweet soy sauce.
And man, this is just amazing!!!! The pork slice were marinated superbly, and since the meat is so so tender, this dish is just perfect!! I really really love them! 9.0/10
Dak Gal Bi @ RM27 – Boneless chicken fillet marinated with spicy chili sauce. The chicken is very good too, well marinated and BBQ to perfection. 7.8/10
Oh did I mentioned that the waiter will help you to BBQ the dish? They will also cut it to smaller piece for easier consumption. Besides, they will also change the grill plate each time a dish was being cook.
Soon Dubu Jjigae @ RM17 – soft tofu cook with assorted seafood. The tofu is really soft and the soup is very thick and nice. Goes really well with rice. And unlike Chinese and Thai food, it may look reddish but actually it’s not spicy at all. 7.4/10
O Jing Er So Myun @ RM30 – sliced squid with vegetables stir fried in spicy chili sauce with noodles. Man, I love this! The squid given is big and nice, and the sauce taste extremely good! It’s taste a bit sweet other than spicy, and if you stir and eat it with the noodle given, it’s awesome! The noodle itself is very soft and very smooth, man, I just love it! 9.2/10
Kimchi Jeon @ RM25. Well, it’s just pancake cooked with kimchi and taste OK la. 7.2/10
Daorae is 1 of the few restaurants that served fine authentic Korean food in Penang. Although the price might be a bit steep, but it’s definitely a great place to come whenever you got the Korean food cravings in you, or even just BBQ cravings!
Parking space in front of the restaurant might be limited though.
